Entrepreneurial and Innovative Spirit
The Gnostech story reads from a Hollywood start-up story complete with central casting. Alan Fesnak along with James “Jim” Kavanaugh founded Gnostech in 1981 in Jim’s garage after leaving their government civil service jobs as electrical engineers working in the Global Positioning System (GPS) program. The two of them had an idea and ran with it. They believed that they could build a better mousetrap…and they did. Their idea was to build a tool that models radio frequencies to test GPS receivers. Today this tool is known as the Advanced Geospatial Navigation Simulator (AGNS) which is still being used by the DoD today.
